Whether making custom parts for a passion project or doing metal fabrication for an industry, our burn tables are designed to meet your needs. We manufacture, design, and test all the burn tables we sell at our cutting-edge facility in Phoenix, Arizona. When you order a table from us, you can be confident of receiving a high-quality product. All our tables are made in the USA and come with a 5-year warranty.

What Is a Burn Table?

A burn table is a thermal cutting table that utilizes either a plasma stream or an oxy-fuel mix to either melt materials or sway the process burns. Most burn tables vaporize the meatal burned into a powder, removing it from the cutting zone via a high velocity air or gas stream. Burn tables are primarily used for shape cutting of hot and cold rolled steel. They rely on CNC controls to minimize human error and deliver fabricated parts that require minimal cleanup and post processing. The CNC plasma table holds the materials that will be burned by these processes—laser, oxy-fuel, or plasma—using a CNC cutting machine.

Burn Table Uses

Burn tables play a crucial role in metal cutting and are suitable for various industries. They can be used by fabricators working in:
  • Agriculture
  • Automotive
  • Clothing
  • Food Services
  • Structural Steel
  • Machining
  • Signs Building
  • Heavy Equipment
  • Film and production
  • Tools and Equipment
  • Metal Art and Decorative Metal

About Burn Tables

The right burn table for you will depend on the nature of your project. For a smaller, home-based project, you might be able to use a basic burn table. However, large-scale projects will require more specialized thermal cutting machines and a few considerations. Ultimately, your choice of turn table will depend on the following factors:

Oxy-fuel or plasma

Burn tables are designed to either support oxy-fuel or plasma arc cutting. In oxy-fuel, torches are used to combine gases for high-end cutting. Although this type of cutting is considered the most efficient, it is typically slower than plasma cutting and isn’t of much use on thinner materials. Oxy-fuel burn tables are recommended for sheets ½” and above. With a plasma arch, high pressure dry clean air is needed in large quantities to filter out the burned material from the cut zone. Oxygen can also be used to intensify the burn, but the operator would need to combine it with non-inflammable gases to eliminate the oxygen from the surrounding environment.

Fine plasma

There are also high-definition “fine plasma” systems that are only compatible with CNC machines. These systems have been around since 2004 and offer a faster cutting process with better finishes and detail. However, they must be used with an accurate motion system and CNC machine to achieve the best results. Many modern CNC providers stock these systems so they can offer their customers a quality product that provides the best surface finishes.

Types of Burn Tables

There are different types of burn tables for different CNC machines. These include:
  • Water tables: Water burn tables eliminate harmful arch light, dissipate heat, and keep cut parts cool. You can use these tables without a dust collector.
  • Downdraft tables: Downdraft burn tables are similar to water burn tables, except that their tank is exhausted by high capacity fans instead of water. They can accommodate up to 3” thick plates and are designed to support smaller machines.
  • Dry tables: These are designed to support thermal cutting and are typically built high enough off the floor to allow for easy cleaning of slag and other burned material. It’s best suited for outdoor use as it doesn’t come with a smoke/fume control.
  • Unitized tables: Tables that combine the burning machine and the unitized table into a single unit are referred to as unitized burn tables.
